Diversus – the legal definition of this Latin word is - different, unlike, opposed, hostile. In practice the word relates to the legal term “diverso intuitu”, applicable in the Criminal Proceedings. It means “a different motive” (for example, for commitment of a crime).
The word participates in the legal phrase “Diversis diebus et vicibus”. Literally it means - at different days and times.
Nowadays we use the term “diversity”, which refers to a pleading by an arrested person that he is not the one who should be captured. A synonym of “diversus” is “dissimilis”, which shares similar meaning.
