Despecto – this Latin verb literally means to overlook, despise, regard from above, to survey, to look down upon. In the legal practice, it refers to a behavior that is absolutely non-acceptable in the commercial relations, where the trader should not overlook the buyer; but to act in good faith and in respect to the person who wishes to invest their money.
The word relates to the term “despiciens”, which refers to the figure of contemptuous person, paying respect to others. A synonym is the term “despicio” which shares similar meaning.
