Latin Legal Terms


Depraedor or “depredor” – this Latin verb literally means to plunder, lay waste, pillage, ravage. In terms of the Criminal Law this word details one of the aspects of the robbery – i.e. the illegal taking away an item from the possession of its owner without their consent. Usually performed via executing physical force against the item holder or against the fence or the door that opens the premise where the item is situated.
A synonym of “depreador” is “deripio”, which has similar meaning.
