Contendo – this legal term has several different meanings, depending of where it has got application in practice:
1) To contend, struggle. For instance, the word participates in the legal term “nolo contendere”, used in the area of court proceedings. There it refers to official statement, made by the defendant that he neither admits nor denies the charge.
2) To compare; compete or argue. For example, within the area of Commercial Law the buyer compares offers presented to him and chooses the most convenient one.
3) To maintain, shoot, cast. In practice, the Condominium Law establishes rules about the maintenance of common parts of a building, where there are many owners of apartments.
