Latin Legal Terms

Tam ... quam

Tam ... quam – this Latin phrase means: As ... as possible. The phrase participates in the legal maxim “qui tam pro domino rege quam pro se ipso in hac parte sequit” used in Litigation procedures. Literally it means “a person who pursues in this action as much for the king as himself”, but actually it states that a party which has helped in the proceedings, should be legally entitled to receive part of the remedy given by court.
