Comburo – this Latin word means to burn up, to ruin, to consume. It participates in the legal term “combustio domorum”, which means “burning of homes”, and in practice it applies in the area of Criminal Law to detail the arson as a crime. The word participates in the term “de haeretico comburendo”, which refers to an order, issued by the King, for burning a person who has been accused of heresy. A synonym is “sepelio”.
