Cedo – in practice, this Latin term has three different meanings, depending of its usage:
1) It means to grant, yield (over something). Within this meaning, the word relates to the phrase “cedant arma togae”, which literally means “let arms yield to the gown”. In the Military services, it expresses the maxim that the army power yield to citizen’s power.
2) It means to go, proceed / turn out, happen / go away, withdraw.
3) It means to give ground to, submit to, and be inferior to.
