Latin Legal Terms

Auctoritas - it means authority. This word has been used to detail the level of prestige, which a citizen had in the Roman society. It was used in the phrase “Auctorias non veritas facit legem”, which literally means “Authority, not truth, makes Law” (i.e. only entitled bodies could issue rules for behaviour within one society).
