Ante meridiem

Ante meridiem – this term means “before midday”. It relates to word “antea (adv)” that means "before", “previously”. It’s abbreviation – A.M., details the hours from 00:00 to 12:00 midday. The opposite term is “post meridiem”, which via its abbreviation P.M. nowadays details the hours between 12:00 and 00:00 midnight.
