Affirm – it means “to maintain to be true”. Nowadays it relates to the term “affirmation”, used in the area of Court Procedures refers to a declaration, made in court by a witness who has no religious belief, or has religious beliefs that prevent him/her taking the oath. They declare by affirmation that the evidence he/she is giving (fact they are stating) is the truth.
