A mensa et thoro

A mensa et thoro – literally it means “from bed and table”. This expression is used in the sphere of Family Law, where details a legal separation between spouses via court decision, without official divorce. Usually the divorce has to be proclaimed by court via another, different procedure – during which it is decided about the family assets, child care, family names etc.
