Latin Legal Terms

Abnegatio – this legal term literally means “to surrender”; “to give up”. It is used in the area of Military Law in some legal systems, where it details a proclamation by a country when unable to react on war actions by another country. Synonyms are “abdication” and the not so close “abandonment”. Nowadays it is transformed in the word “abnegation”, which refers to denial of a doctrine or politic line.
