Detrimentum

Detrimentum – this Latin noun literally means loss, detriment, damage. The damages are major legal term used in the Tort Law, where it refer to the actual loss, suffered by the injured person who later seeks protection of their legal rights in court of law via submitting a damage claim. In other words, the damages are the direct and the remote result of the wrongful act. Usually these are calculated in money (i.e. a financial compensation). Synonyms are “injuria” (or “iniuria”) and “malum”.
