De lege ferenda

De lege ferenda – this term literally means “from Law to the forwarded”. It is used within the Common Law systems, where it has to detail how the Law should be interpreted and implemented. Sometimes it is described as “lex ferenda”. A synonym is the Latin term “de lege lata”, which has similar meaning. The origin of this term is the word “lege”, which means “Law”, or “written Law”.
