Contrectare

Contrectare – literally it means to touch; to handle. Within the old English Law it means to treat. In the legal practice this Latin term participates in the legal maxim “Contrectatio rei alienae animo furando, est furtum”, applicable in the area of Criminal Law. There it states that possessing of another person’s property with an intention to steal it, practically establishes the crime “theft”.
