Canis

Canis – this Latin word means “dog”, “hound”. The word participates in the phrase “canis canem edit”, which literally means “dog eats dog”. It refers to a situation where no person could be safe from the actions of the others around him within the society or the group; i.e. the rights of this person may be affected or harmed by other individuals within the same society. For example, such situation would occur in the event of anarchy.
