Apto – this Latin word means to fit, to adjust. In the area of Criminal Law for example, the role of each sentence, placed in the local Code with certain limits, is to fit the particular proved crime, and to be adjusted most appropriate to serve the goals of the concrete trial. The word relates to the legal term “aptus”, which means: suitable, appropriate, fitting. In terms of court proceedings, the defendant follows a line of defense which is suitable for his/her legal and financial interests.
