Latin Legal Terms

Accretio

Accretio – literally it means growth in extent or in size. It is formed from the word “accrēscere”, which means “to grow”. Nowadays in legal point of view, the term used as “accretion” could have two different meanings: - in the sphere of Law of Contracts, this term means increase, rise of the number (especially used for the amounts of interest stipulated in money-loan contracts). - Another meaning is to detail an addition to plot of land close by rivers, which addition has been made by the permanent action of waters.
