Accessorium non ducit sed sequitur suum principale – this Latin phrase expresses the legal maxim, applicable in the Real Estate Law, providing that “the accessory does not lead, but follows the principal”. In other words – the interest for delay, being accessory pretention, follows the principal amount, which is the main (leading) debt.
